Cinnamon Chip Bread

This recipe was found on Hershey's website

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup applesauce*
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2  eggs
  • 1 cup HERSHEY'S Cinnamon Chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. 
  2. Grease three 5-3/4x3-1/4x2-inch mini loaf pans, OR 1 bread pan, OR muffin cups**.
  3. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, applesauce, shortening and eggs in large bowl. Beat on medium speed of mixer until well blended. Stir in cinnamon chips and walnuts. Divide batter evenly into prepared pan(s).
  4. Bake:
    Mini loaf pans: 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Large loaf pan: 55 to 60 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Muffin pan: 18 to 22 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
    Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire rack. Cool completely.
  5. Makes:
    Mini loaves - 3
    Large loaves - 1
    Muffins - 12 to 18
*Applesauce - we used homemade applesauce with sugar and cinnamon.
**MUFFINS: Line muffin cups (2-1/2 inches in diameter) with foil or paper baking cups or spray with vegetable cooking spray. Fill cups 3/4 full with batter. Bake 18 to 22 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely. Makes 18 muffins.


Serves (loaf) 12. Nutrition per slice: 338 calories, 31g carbs, 14g fat, 4g protein
