Rolls

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup plus 1 tsp Sugar
1/2 cup Margarine OR butter
Water
2 packages dry yeast
7 1/2 cup flour
3 large eggs

Directions

In small bowl, combine yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar and 1/2 cup warm water.
In large bowl, combine shortening, salt, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup margarine OR butter.
Pour 1 cup boiling water over mixture.

Add to large bowl, alternating: flour, eggs, yeast mixture, and 1 cup cold water.
Mix well. *Some find it easier to mix by hand versus a mixer.
~Dough will be sticky
Cover dough with plastic wrap, allowing room for dough to rise!
Refrigerate for a minimum of 5 hours or up to all night. *If dough is rising too fast, punch down, as needed.
Form dough into desired shape and size.
Let rise 1 hour or till doubled in size.
Bake at 375 degrees about 15-20 minutes.
Makes 3-5 dozen, depending on size of rolls.

*We usually split the dough to make a dozen rolls and use the remaining dough to make cinnamon rolls.
